Senior Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Zlotnick has the honor of holding a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She has over 15 years experience in the field with a wide breadth of experience treating substance abuse and co-occurring disorders with Veterans, working with the homeless population, working with serious mental illness (SMI) in both inpatient and community clinics, as well as with children, adolescents, adults, seniors and families in a variety of settings. She completed her doctoral training at Stanford University School of Medicine, The Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, and has trained at Oakland Children’s Hospital, VA Palo Alto Health Care System-Menlo Park Division and the University of California, San Diego. She completed her doctoral internship in psychology at the highly competitive Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, an American Psychological Association (APA)–Accredited training site. She received unmatched training in substance use with the military population under the US Department of Veterans Affairs Foundations of Recovery (FOR) Program.

She has received unparalleled training in evidence-based therapies. She received training in Marsha Linehan’s Model of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) at Stanford University Medical Center Interpersonal Problems Clinic under Team Clinician to the San Francisco 49ers, Dr. Lisa Post, in-vivo clinical teaching from one of the forefathers of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) and author of “The Feeling Good Handbook” Dr. David D. Burns, M.D. and was trained by the founders of Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Anthony Bateman and Dr. Peter Fonagy OBE FMedSci FBA FAcSS PhD – which is a treatment specifically designed for Borderline Personality Disorder.

She is an Instinctual Trauma Response (ITR)-Certified Trauma Peer Support Coach, has completed ICEEFT-endorsed Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and was enrolled in the world-renowned relationship and sex expert Esther Perel’s training Sessions.

She has served in a wide range of roles including Clinical Director, Lead Clinician and Outreach and Peer Volunteer Coordinator. She is passionate about learning and teaching. She was inducted into Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology and Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society and continues to subscribe to their motto of, “Love of learning is the guide of life”.

Dr. Zlotnick is unafraid to explore envelope-pushing topics while holding space for deep empathy, validation and understanding. Her passion for psychology, natural eloquence combined with a relentless drive for excellence makes her an effective, empathic and powerful provider. She seeks to provide the care that she would want for a family member and her practice is rooted in the values of integrity, acceptance, empathy and mutual respect. Cultivating Compassion, Mindfulness and Evidence-Based Practices of MBT, CBT, and DBT form the foundation of her client-centered approach to help individuals come to a place of understanding and empowerment.
