MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS FOR VETERANS
Failure to Launch Syndrome
At Solara Mental Health, our veterans often come to us having already attempted to find treatment, but without success. They find themselves falling into their old destructive patterns of thought and behavior, or even realize their symptoms have gotten worse.
Symptoms
Failure to launch syndrome — a lack of success in achieving one or more life goals, such as receiving treatment — is a real struggle that has significant repercussions on all aspects of an individual’s life, including the following:
- Feelings of frustration, disappointment, and hopelessness
- Lack of trust in self and the therapeutic process
- Decreased self-confidence
- Poor health habits
- Inability to form and maintain healthy relationships
- Lack of motivation in other areas of life, including education, work, and spirituality
- Decreased sense of purpose
We understand how difficult these feelings can be to overcome, particularly for an individual beginning a new treatment process. At Solara Mental Health, we have a tailored program for failure-to-launch syndrome treatment in San Diego. The program helps veterans free themselves from feelings of frustration and hopelessness and move forward toward lasting recovery.
Treatment
This process begins with an in-depth assessment conducted by the trained clinicians at our psychiatric facility. Our assessment draws on information from the veteran, their loved ones, and their outpatient care providers. This information allows us to fully understand a veteran’s symptoms, needs, and treatment history—including what has and hasn’t worked in past treatments. From there we determine what habits may be keeping a veteran from meeting goals and making lasting changes.
With this full understanding, the clinicians at our mental health center develop a personalized treatment plan for each veteran. Depending on a veteran’s needs, their treatment plan will utilize a unique combination of individual psychotherapy, group therapy, holistic therapies, and specialized therapies. This gives veterans a comprehensive and in-depth treatment experience. In this environment, veterans gain greater insight into their strengths and weaknesses, learn concrete tools to move forward, and gain a support system of understanding peers and clinicians. These tools help a veteran move forward to meet goals and find greater purpose and peace in their lives.
